Mega Concept – Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Mega

Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Mega

The original delicate Danish china pattern designed in 1775 was blown up and modernized by design student Karen Kjældgård-Larsen in 2000. The young designer was on the ground floor of a movement that grew out of respect for tradition and a desire to update!

Blue Fluted Mega has been extremely popular and is now produced in a black and white version. The concept has been copied by mass retailers such as Crate & Barrel, but nothing compares to the updated Royal Copenhagen original.

Interior, textile and furniture designer Thomas O’Brien has applied the “mega” concept to his collection for rug manufacturer Safavieh. O’Brien’s larger-scale versions of traditional rug motifs are perfect for use under contemporary furnishings within traditional architectural spaces.
